What we think after testing Storm Proxies

Editorial review by Maya Cortez · last tested Jun 1, 2026

Overview. Storm Proxies has been a fixture of the budget proxy market since around 2016, and it shows — both in price and in age. The service is built around backconnect gateway proxies: you point your software at a fixed gateway IP and Storm rotates the exit IP on its side. Three product lines exist: rotating residential, rotating datacenter/reverse proxies, and static private dedicated proxies. Bandwidth is genuinely unlimited across every plan, which remains the single strongest selling point.

Pricing. Pricing is aggressively cheap and entirely thread/port-based. Rotating residential runs $50/mo for 5 ports up to $300/mo for 50 ports, with a $19/mo 1-port entry. Rotating datacenter starts at a $14/mo 10-thread test plan, then scales to $147/mo for 200 threads. Static dedicated proxies start at just $10/mo for 5 IPs. There is no per-GB billing anywhere — you pay for concurrency, not traffic.

Strengths and weaknesses. Setup is about as simple as proxies get: no API, no dashboard complexity, instant delivery, IP-authentication only. That makes it friendly to beginners, SEO tool users (Scrapebox, GSA), and basic scraping. But the service is visibly dated. There is no SOCKS5 (HTTP/HTTPS only), no city/ASN targeting (only USA, EU, USA+EU, Worldwide), no username:password auth on rotating plans, and rotation is time-based (every 3, 5, or 15 minutes) or per-request rather than sticky-session controllable. Performance on hard targets (Cloudflare, sneaker/ticket sites beyond their niche plans) is mediocre.

Guarantee and support. The money-back guarantee is narrow: 24 hours, and only on the smallest/cheapest package of each proxy type — all larger plans are non-refundable. Support is email-only, advertised 24/7 with most replies under an hour. Bottom line: Storm Proxies is a cheap, no-frills, unlimited-bandwidth option ideal for beginners and light SEO/scraping work, but its dated HTTP-only stack, weak geo-targeting, and restrictive 24-hour refund make it a poor fit for serious or anti-bot-heavy projects.

How to get started with Storm Proxies

A 5-minute walkthrough from sign-up to your first successful request. Total setup time: ~10 minutes.

  1. 1

Create an account and confirm email

Create a Storm Proxies account at https://stormproxies.com/clients/aff/go/affinco. Self-serve access is usually available immediately.

  2. 2

    Choose your proxy mix

Use the dashboard to choose between residential / datacenter / mobile. Start with the smallest plan to validate your workload before scaling.

  3. 3

    Set up your proxy auth

Set up either an IP-whitelist auth or username:password pair from the dashboard. Save the proxy hostname + port into your scraper or browser config.

  4. 4

Tune rotation policy for your target

Decide between rotating-on-every-request (best for SERP scraping) or sticky sessions (best for account-based workflows).

  5. 5

    Validate against your real target

Run 100-500 test requests against your real target before paying for volume. Compare success rate to Storm Proxies's claimed rate before committing to an annual plan.
