TL;DROur verdict on ProxyNova, in 5 facts

  • 1ProxyNova is a free public-proxy list aggregator, not a proxy seller — it lists IPs it does not own.
  • 2Core product is a live, filterable list updated about every 60 seconds, backed by vendor-claimed daily testing of 1M+ proxies.
  • 3Three anonymity tiers (Transparent, Anonymous, Elite) plus filtering by country and port.
  • 4Bonus free tools include a Proxy Checker, Port Scanner, IP-to-Location and Online Proxy Extractor.
  • 5Best for casual/throwaway use; not suitable for serious scraping, automation or anything needing reliability or an API.

The verdict

Benchmark data and published specifications — here's where ProxyNova lands.

What we like
  • Completely free — no account, no plan, no paywall
  • Live proxy list refreshed roughly every 60 seconds from a continuously tested database
  • Vendor states it checks over a million proxies daily, retesting most at least every 15 minutes
  • Filterable by country, port and anonymity level (Transparent / Anonymous / Elite)
  • Each entry shows speed, uptime sample, country/city and last-checked time
  • Bundled free tools: Proxy Checker, Port Scanner, IP-to-Location, Proxy Extractor and more
  • Established and transparent operator, online since 2011
Watch outs
  • Not a paid provider — no owned residential, ISP, mobile or datacenter network
  • No API, SDKs, customer dashboard, sticky sessions or SLA
  • Public proxies are unstable — many are slow, already blocked, or offline
  • Security/privacy risk: unknown operators, unencrypted relays, possible logging or content injection
  • No customer support, authentication or uptime guarantee
  • Mixed reputation signals (legit per ScamAdviser, lower trust score from Scam Detector)

What we think after testing ProxyNova

Editorial review by Maya Cortez · last updated Jul 16, 2026

ProxyNova is not a commercial proxy seller in the mold of Bright Data, Oxylabs or Smartproxy. It is a free, public-proxy list aggregator that has been online since 2011 (the footer reads © 2011–2026 ProxyNova.com). Its core product is a continuously refreshed directory of open, third-party HTTP/HTTPS proxies that anyone can copy and use for free — there is no account to create, no plan to buy, and no proprietary IP network behind it. Understanding that distinction matters before you compare it to paid providers: ProxyNova does not own or rent the proxies it lists; it discovers, tests and publishes IPs that are already publicly reachable on the internet.

The centerpiece is the Proxy Server List. According to ProxyNova's own pages, their software "checks over a million proxy servers daily, with most proxies tested at least once every 15 minutes," and the published list is "updated once every 60 seconds from the data stored in our gigabyte-sized proxy database." Each row shows the proxy IP and port, the last-checked response time in milliseconds, a speed/uptime indicator with a sample size, the country (and city where known), and an anonymity level. The list can be filtered by port, country of origin, and anonymity. Anonymity is bucketed into three tiers the site defines explicitly: Transparent (the target sees your IP and that you are using a proxy), Anonymous (the target does not see your IP but knows a proxy is in use), and Elite/High anonymity (the target sees neither your IP nor that a proxy is involved). Country coverage shifts constantly because the pool is live; at the time of writing the largest pools shown were China, Indonesia and the United States, with hundreds-to-thousands of working entries per country across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

There is no pricing because nothing is for sale. That is the headline feature and the headline caveat at once. ProxyNova has no paid tiers, no residential/ISP/mobile network, no scraping or unblocker API, no SDKs, no customer dashboard, and no SLA. What it does offer beyond the list is a useful spread of genuinely free utilities: a Proxy Checker, Port Scanner, IP to Location lookup, Online Proxy Extractor, Link Extractor, Keyword Density Analyzer, Text Obfuscator, Brute Force Calculator, Password breach check, Reverse Geolocator and more, plus two desktop programs — Internet Proxy Switcher (a Windows system-proxy switcher) and the Java-based Nova Proxy-Suite for proxy discovery and testing. None of these carry a fee.

Who is it for? Hobbyists, students, and anyone who needs a single disposable IP for a quick, low-stakes task — unblocking a geo-restricted video, a one-off manual check, or learning how proxies behave. It is also handy as a free input source for people building or testing their own proxy-rotation tooling. ProxyNova itself frames a classic use case: appearing to browse from another country to reach content blocked in your region.

The weaknesses are inherent to the model, not incidental. Free public proxies are volatile: many entries are slow, already blocked on the sites you care about, or offline by the time you use them, and independent reviewers consistently flag instability. Because these are open relays operated by unknown third parties, there are real security and privacy risks — unencrypted connections, the possibility of traffic logging or content injection — so you should never route logins, payments or sensitive data through them. There is no support, no uptime guarantee, no authentication, and no way to guarantee a given IP will still work in five minutes. Reputation signals are mixed: ScamAdviser rates the domain as legitimate and popular, while Scam Detector assigns a lower trust score; Trustpilot feedback includes complaints that proxies were slow or pre-blocked. These are the expected trade-offs of any free public list, and ProxyNova is one of the more transparent and longest-lived examples of the category.

How to get started with ProxyNova

A 5-minute walkthrough from sign-up to your first successful request. Total setup time: ~10 minutes.

  1. 1

Open an account & verify your inbox

Create a ProxyNova account at https://www.proxynova.com. Self-serve access is usually available immediately.

  2. 2

    Pick a starter package

Use the dashboard to choose between Datacenter. Start with the smallest plan to validate your workload before scaling.

  3. 3

    Grab your endpoint + credentials

Set up either an IP-whitelist auth or username:password pair from the dashboard. Save the proxy hostname + port into your scraper or browser config.

  4. 4

    Set up session stickiness

Decide between rotating-on-every-request (best for SERP scraping) or sticky sessions (best for account-based workflows).

  5. 5

    Benchmark before committing

Run 100-500 test requests against your real target before paying for volume. Compare success rate to ProxyNova's claimed rate before committing to an annual plan.
